An archive of some of my favorite pieces (finished or unfinished), archived to the whyp.it website. My whyp account ranges from work in progress bounces to finished projects.
The long-term plan is to put music exclusively on bandcamp, as I despise current streaming platforms and the middleware that is required to place them on said platforms.
Assignment 7a - Oats - Counterpoint study using multiple isorhythms and an extracted dialog from this youtube video
Assignment 7 - the bright places - Counterpoint study using multiple isorhythms and extracted dialog from the film “All the Bright Places”
Assignment 4 - Counterpoint study featuring a cantus firmus that dynamically changes throughout the song’s duration.
Assignment 2a - Counterpoint study featuring a cantus firmus and a random drum generator.
The Last Letter - inspired by the dialog from the end of the “Perks of a Wallflower” movie. This one part of the movie really resonated with me, and so I decided to write music to dialog (as if it was a movie), and I think it turned out really well.
Home - A chill, laid-back hip hop track that features a plethora of sonic flavors that resolve in a triumphant letter documenting where I believe “home” is.Petrichor - an unfinished musical adventure that tries to paint the smell of Petrichor, and then expand it through a flurry of Logic MIDI instruments.
“untitled medieval waltz” - An orchestral composition / Logic mockup of a “medieval” sounding melody that floated around in my head.
“bad breakcore” - a piece featuring very ethereal and retro atmospheres with a driving breakcore breakbeat. It has a pretty cool vibe to it and it’s loosely based off of this one TikTok
Seven Eight Four - An unconventional conventional piece of music that switches between 7/4 and 4/4, and follows a “go with the flow” song structure (there isn’t much of a song structure).
You can’t hurry love remix - a bass music remix of “You can’t hurry love” by The Supremes, aiming at harmonically transforming the song’s tonally stable identity into something far more unstable and unsettling. More information about the project can be found here.
Smash Mouth All Star - An intentionally unfaithful recreation of Smash Mouth’s All Star where every sound within the instrumental was made with an excerpt of my biology teacher’s voice.
No Games Remix - A song I had stems for a remix contest that I never ended up submitting anything to. For fun, I decided to recreate a “Dua Lipa Levitating” vibe.
“karma but better” - hyperpop rendition of Jojo Siwa’s “Karma” that turned into a dubstep-jersey club hybrid.
Psychadelia - A piece I did for my roomate’s film documentary final project. This piece explores the different stages of a high and is accompanied by a video.
“build 2” - My second piece I ever wrote in Ableton and at NYU. Super simple piano riff that is accompanied by overstimulating IDM-esque percussion.
A Moment of Magic - The very first piece I ever wrote in Ableton and at NYU. I sampled the piece “Momento Magico” by Youn Sun Nah & Ulf Wakenius and created a goofy little drum and bass track.
