Morning! I’m Silas.
I’m a Music Technology student at NYU. I’m currently pursuing a 5-year bachelors and masters in Music Technology. Alongside Music Technology, I am studying Computer Science, Signal Processing, and Electrical Engineering.
My interests are twofold:
- Making hardware and software products
- Sharing knowledge in both an accessible and thorough nature that inspires other people to make stuff
This part of my website serves as a portfolio / archive of all of my recent works, and some other things that I’ve been up to. Thanks for stopping by!
Some cool things I’ve done:
- Developing a Teensy-based game controller that simultaneously sends MIDI and MIDI-CC data into a DAW whilst controlling a video game (or some HID-adjacent program)
- Developing a Delay VST plugin using the JUCE framework with sound design focused feature set such as delay-tap offset and an FX-insert within the feedback loop.
- Built an analog tremolo effect with a slew-limited square and triangle LFO.
- A research paper on Ultrasonic Microphone Jammers (you can find more of them here)
Some NYU-related things I’m currently involved in
- I help put together MTech Invasion every semester! MTech Invasion is a student-run style-agnostic “Pandora’s Box” concert featuring Music Technology students.
- I am apart of GenAudio Leadership, where we foster learning and research through industry panels, hackathons, reading groups, and hands-on projects.
